Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with a major in business administration, accounting or a closely related field is required.  Eight (8) years of professional work experience processing payroll in a large organization is required, previous supervisory experience is preferred.  Additional years of supervisory work experience in an area listed may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year for year basis.  Ability to work with minimal direction, and manage details, including a complex payroll computer system. Ability to deal with interruptions and use diplomacy and good independent judgment.  Lawson and Kronos experience preferred.  Working knowledge of and the ability to use databases, application development, report writer, word processing and spreadsheet software.  Ability to identify information needs and develop and apply automated methods to satisfy the needs.  Ability to express thoughts and ideas through the use of written and oral communication skills.  Organizational and problem-solving ability.  Ability to partner with operating unit heads to creatively solve problems.   

Directs the operation of the Piedmont Healthcare System payroll function.   Directing and overseeing the System payroll processing, timekeeping and related activities, including the day to day operations of the central payroll department functions.  Develops, implements and ensures enforcement of standardized pay practices, policies and procedures.  Develops, reviews and enforces audit reports and procedures to ensure accuracy of the payroll.  Ensures all pay practices and payroll processes and procedures are conducted in accordance with all state and federal regulations.
