This position reports to the Director - Laboratory. Performs Blood Bank testing on patients of all ages using professional knowledge of Blood Bank procedures in an accurate and timely manner. Responsible for training, operations and regulatory compliance in Blood Bank. Works closely with the staff to ensure operations of the Blood Bank are maintained to the highest standards. Provides technical direction to technologists, technicians and laboratory assistants to include training and resolution of technical problems. Maintains and reviews quality control records, maintenance records, patient records and competency measurements. Maintains responsiveness to all regulatory agencies. BS degree in Medical Technology or equivalent education required. Must be certified as a Medical Technologist by an approved accrediting agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT or HEW) and licensed by the state of Georgia. SBB certification preferred. Must be competent in all areas of the Blood Bank. Two (2) years of Blood Bank hospital experience preferred. Two years of supervisory experience preferred. |
