QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and currently licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Georgia. Maintains IBCLC or AWHONN Breastfeeding Certification. Will give someone up to two years to complete certification. Has 2 years experience in Maternal Child area. RESPONSIBLE FOR: Assessment and evaluation of the breastfeeding couplet. This includes planning, implementing and evaluating care based on this assessment. Provides and coordinates lactation assistance, education, and support to antepartum, post partum, and neonatal patients (inclusive of adolescents and adults) through the use of the nursing process in accordance with standard nursing practice and established nursing policies and procedures. Monitoring couplet to prevent and solve breastfeeding problems and to provide an environment that effectively supports the breastfeeding families. Providing patient/staff education and support in all aspects of lactation management. |
